Control Systems Software Chooses RAMP From LANSA To Modernize Integrated Information System
Agribusiness Members to Benefit from Easier to Use Interface
Downers Grove, Illinois, USA. — January 10, 2008 — When Control Systems Software (CSS) decided to modernize its integrated agribusiness information system, they embarked on a reconnaissance mission to find an ISV that could provide its members with a system that was easier to use, but also gave them the chance to be more efficient in the future. After a lengthy decision process, RAMP from LANSA was chosen to help CSS modernize its software, which interfaces to industry leading applications such as a scale interface, a feed interface, third-party agronomy packages as well as other applications.
CSS, based in Urbandale, Iowa, is similar to a co-op, in which member companies include aggressive agribusinesses in the United States — petroleum, grain, feed, and so on. These members take an active role in determining what CSS does and what upgrades should be made to its software package. CSS develops CONTROL for its membership, a fully integrated system for agribusiness that includes POS, bulk fuel, inventory, commodities management, financial and more.
Recon included a trip of the management team to COMMON last May. CEO Carol Stewart explained, "We decided that we would attend COMMON to visit vendors and view their demos, including LANSA. At that point, we decided to go with another vendor. However, while meeting with LANSA's sales rep at our office, we learned several things we had missed in the first demo. So we spent more time reviewing the pros and cons of each vendor — a difficult decision — and resolved to go with RAMP from LANSA."
CSS' choice will give them the ability to work both on green-screen and GUI at the same time, which is what its members want. According to Stewart, "Our companies own us and it is critical to keep them on the leading edge of technology. Because of that, we wanted to modernize, but the dilemma of how to do so was a challenge. Our members of course are used to the green-screen and like it, but newer hires aren't so ready to agree to that point of view. We wanted to give them options. A modernized system will let us be more productive and it will be more efficient for our members. And it should also give us faster development on down the line."
"We're pleased that CSS has chosen RAMP to provide a modernization strategy, which allows them to achieve their goals," said Steve Gapp, president of LANSA Americas. 'The RAMP solution will allow them to modernize and improve productivity while maintaining their green-screen application for as long as they need to."
