JIT Upgrade and Deployment Tool additional application icons

|Abstract:||Some considerations to be noted if using additional icons in an application that is upgraded by JIT application upgrades|

The new Additional Icons feature of the deployment tool in SP5 allows you to create more than one shortcut in an application's Start Menu folder when it is deployed. The additional shortcut might point to an another application entry point, or to another related application. Please refer to the documentation for more information.
When the additional shortcut is used for launching a LANSA application via an X_START there is an option to inherit all X_START details from the Main Shortcut. This is the quickest and easiest option, since you don't need to re-define server or database details - only the name of the form/function to be launched.
For customers using JIT Package upgrades with their applications though, an issue has been found where the UPTP option does not get inherited correctly. The additional shortcut is set to use DLL upgrade processing regardless of the setting of the main shortcut.
In order to avoid this, you should manually specify UPTP=PACKAGE in the X_START Parameters/Override Parameters. This will override the settings that are 'inherited' from the Main Shortcut.
This issue has been scheduled for correction.
