Detailed Description:
An Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) data source that is connecting to a data server must use a communications protocol. This is the type of data source (DSN) that is used for a Client/Shared
Visual LANSA installation, as well as on the Server machine of a Server installation.
By default, the Visual LANSA Set up program selects the TCP/IP communications protocol. The
Set up program will attempt to detect TCP/IP, and will issue a warning if it cannot be detected.
If TCP/IP is not installed on a machine where you are planning to run a Client/Shared or Server installation of
Visual LANSA, we recommend installing it. However, if you do not wish to install TCP/IP, you may configure both the database server and all DSN's to use
NetBIOS and/or IPX. See the ASA online manuals for further information.
