Abstract:How to hide business objects from the Navigation Pane in a Framework Application
Submitted By:LANSA Technical Support

Visual LANSA Framework has a feature called "Allow Selection from Navigation Pane" which enables programmers to select which business objects to be visible or hidden at the Navigation Pane of a VLF application:

Visual LANSA Framework Business Object Properties

Uncheck this option if you do not want the business object to appear at the navigation pane.

Typically this option is unchecked for business objects that should not be directly selectable by themselves (objects with a relationship type Child in Instance List/Relationships tab). For example, an ORDER-ITEM business object may be defined in the Framework, but it is not something that would be directly selectable by a user. Normally an ORDER-ITEM would only be accessible via its parent business object ORDER.

Example of object in the Navigation Pane

For example, if you do not want the Business Object "Sections" is to be visible in the Navigation Pane:

Screen showing that the object Sections is visible in the Navigation Pane

Unchecked the option "Allow Selection from Navigation Pane" will enable the business object to be hidden:

Screen showing that the Sections object is now hidden in the Navigation Pane

To re-enable the business object, select the option again from the properties of the Framework Applications Menu option:

This feature is available for both Windows and Web Framework Applications.
