This material is applicable if:
- You are a new LANSA developer with no LANSA software already installed.
- You are an existing LANSA development site with no Visual LANSA development workstations already installed.
The material is definitely NOT applicable if:
- You are an existing LANSA development site with Visual LANSA workstations already installed.
- You are installing LANSA to use some third party product or application.
Setting up your application development environment usually requires that you accommodate:
- multiple developers, often with quite different skill levels.
- multiple hardware and software platforms
- developing and deploying application components including:
- iSeries 5250 interactive programs
- Windows Rich Client applications
- Browser applications and Web services
- batch, reporting and overnight processing
There are many factors to take into account, often at a time when your knowledge of your chosen application development tool is not fully developed.
