Is it possible in LANSA for the Web to set or limit the number of retries when using authentication? For example, can users be restricted to three attempts at user authentication
LANSA is not involved with the actual Authentication. When Authentication is used, all LANSA does is re-route the request to the AUTHLIB and then the request is sent to the Web-server which then sends the request to the AS/400. It is the Web server and the browser that control the authentication.
The AS/400 user profiles security settings can be used for this purpose. But this may be a problem if the default user is used.
The security measures on the AS/400 include disabling the user profile when the number of sign on attempts has been exceeded. To implement this, it may be that each user will need to be mapped to it's own user on the AS/400.
An alternative is to set up a "user authentication" program, so that the sign on is validated by the application itself i.e. User login.
